What is CEFR?Qu'est-ce que le CECR ?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It defines six levels: A1 (beginner) through C2 (mastery). Most German visas require B1. Italian family reunification requires A2. Le Cadre européen commun de référence pour les langues. Il définit six niveaux : de A1 (débutant) à C2 (maîtrise). La plupart des visas allemands exigent B1. Le regroupement familial italien exige A2.

Your German/Italian embassy appointment, Ausbildung application, or Blue Card interview all require proof of a specific CEFR level. Knowing where you start tells you how long you need to prepare.
